It’s a testament to the vision of Antoine and Christiane. They dreamed of a vibrant church in Wattrelos, grounded in the teachings of Jesus and empowered by the Holy Spirit. Their vision began modestly in the early 1970s with a small group of families. The church initially gathered in a rented space in Wattrelos. Growth was slow but steady. Imagine the scene: dedicated volunteers, including friends from Belgium, Germany, and Poland, laboring to build their own space. From 1980 to 1983, to save funds for land, the congregation held services in homes. This sacrifice paved the way for the completion of their own building in Wattrelos in 1983. La Source – Église Évangélique Protestante later established a presence in Lille. The church also planted a church in Hautmont, demonstrating its commitment to expanding its reach. La Source – Église Évangélique Protestante even acquired a house nearby, transforming the upper level into an apartment and the lower level into a welcoming space for various activities. They called this space “L’Oasis.” La Source – Église Évangélique Protestante’s story continues to unfold. They’ve supported the establishment of churches in the Lille metropole and other areas. Their vision extends beyond Lille, with the creation of the EMA federation and the establishment of ACT church in Tournai, Belgium.
