Founded in 2015, LandSpace stands as a testament to China’s burgeoning private space industry. This Beijing-based company, officially known as LandSpace Technology Corporation, has quickly become a key player in commercial space launches. LandSpace focuses on developing liquid-fueled rocket engines and low-cost commercial launch vehicles. Their goal is to provide standardized launch service solutions to a global market. LandSpace achieved a remarkable feat in July 2023. Their Zhuque-2 rocket became the world’s first methane-fueled launch vehicle to successfully reach orbit. This marked a significant milestone not only for LandSpace but also for the global space industry. The Zhuque-2 can carry an impressive payload of up to 6,000 kg into low Earth orbit. LandSpace has ambitious plans. They aim to launch several more Zhuque-2 rockets in the coming years, solidifying their presence in the competitive commercial space market. They’re not stopping there. LandSpace is also developing the Zhuque-3, a reusable medium-to-heavy launch vehicle made of stainless steel and also powered by liquid methane. This rocket is designed for repeat launches, demonstrating LandSpace’s commitment to sustainable and cost-effective space exploration. LandSpace’s headquarters in Beijing serve as the nerve center for these ambitious projects, coordinating the research, development, and operations that drive the company’s success.
