In 1909, a higher level was added and its name changed to Kawaoka Ordinary Higher Elementary School.

The year 1931 marked a significant change. Kawashima Village was integrated into Kyoto City. The school then became Kyoto City Kawaoka Ordinary Higher Elementary School. During World War II in 1945, students were evacuated. They went to Sonobe Village now Nantan City.

After the war in 1947, a new educational system was established. It led to the school being renamed Kyoto City \u5e02\u7acb\u5ddd\u5ca1\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821. A wooden school building was completed in 1951. The school even created its school song in 1959.

In 1965, a pool was built for the students. To meet the growing population the Kyoto City Yokohara Elementary School was separated in 1970. In 1972, the wooden school building was removed. A new reinforced concrete building was constructed.

The school celebrated its 100th anniversary in 1976. In 1981, an east branch school was established. It became independent as Kyoto City Kawaoka East Elementary School in 1982. In 2004, the school adopted a two-semester system.

\u5e02\u7acb\u5ddd\u5ca1\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821 is located in Kyoto City. The school’s surroundings include various districts. These districts are Kawashima Arinoki Town and Kawashima Tsumida Town. The school is close to Kyoto City Katsuragawa Junior High School. It stands less than 300 meters from the adjacent Kyoto City Katsura East Elementary School. The \u5e02\u7acb\u5ddd\u5ca1\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821 continues to educate and shape young minds.
