In the vibrant tapestry of Harlem’s spiritual landscape, Christ Temple United Baptist Church stands as a testament to faith and perseverance. Christ Temple United Baptist Church began its journey in a humble storefront church on 145th Street in August 1958. A small group of devoted individuals, including Elder James I. Clark, Sr., Mother Rachel Clark, and several other ministers, deacons, and missionaries, united to establish this new beacon of hope. Their vision was to create a place where the Gospel would be preached, disciples would be nurtured, and the community would find support. The church’s early years were marked by several moves. One notable location was 507-09 W. 125th Street. During this time, the church faced a significant challenge. The health of Bishop Clark, Sr. began to decline. In response, his son, Elder James I. Clark, Jr., was installed as Pastor on September 14, 1969. Under his leadership, Christ Temple United Baptist Church found its current home at 13-17 W. 128th Street in August 1978. Throughout its history, Christ Temple United Baptist Church has remained true to its core mission. The church is dedicated to preaching the gospel, making disciples, equipping members for service, and providing support to the community. The church’s commitment has touched countless lives, leaving a lasting legacy of faith and service.
