First mentioned in 1081 as São Julião de Custoias Calendário’s story is one of ancient roots and modern dynamism. It’s a place where history whispers from hills and valleys. The Castro de São Miguel a nearby archaeological site speaks of settlements dating back to the first century BC and the first century AD. These early inhabitants left their mark on the land. Calendário was once a small parish. Its church São Julião stands as a testament to the passage of time. The original small church was replaced by the current building.

The parish of Calendário existed as an independent entity until 2013. Administrative reforms merged it with Vila Nova de Famalicão. Before the merger Calendário boasted a population of 11667 people. The area covered 7.01 square kilometers. That made for a high population density. It became a thriving center of industry. Textile factories flourished. Metalworking enterprises sprang up. The area became a hub for economic activity.

They are testaments to the enduring spirit of Calendário.
