How about stepping back in time to when Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School stood tall. This co-educational, private Roman Catholic high school was in New Rochelle New York. It resulted from merging Blessed Sacrament and Saint Gabriel’s.

Imagine students bustling through its halls. The Sisters of Charity and Christian Brothers guided them. Lay persons also contributed to the school’s spirit. Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School resided within Blessed Sacrament Parish.

Sports played a vital role in student life at Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School. Baseball basketball and soccer teams showcased their talents. Softball track and field volleyball and bowling teams also thrived. The Cardinals was the team name.

Beyond academics and athletics Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School offered numerous clubs and activities. The National Honor Society recognized academic excellence. The Student Government provided leadership opportunities. The Chess Club Art Club and Academic Team catered to diverse interests. Students expressed creativity through the Yearbook and Newspaper. The Music and Drama Society and Computer Club completed the offerings.

Edward Sullivan served as Principal. Msgr. William Bradley was Pastor. The faculty comprised 37 dedicated individuals. In 2008-2009 the school enrolled 319 students. Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School held accreditation from the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. Harry Hart and Tom Nevins served as Athletic Directors.

Sadly Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School closed its doors after the 2012-2013 school year. The Archdiocese announced the closure unexpectedly. This news saddened students and the school community.

Blessed Sacrament-St. Gabriel High School played a significant role in New Rochelle’s educational landscape. It provided a nurturing environment. Students grew academically socially and spiritually. Though closed its legacy endures. The school’s impact on its students and the community remains.
