The Texas AHEC East-Greater Houston Region, working right within these walls, champions better health for underserved communities in Harris, Fort Bend, Montgomery, and Waller Counties. They do this through dynamic health education and workforce development programs. Imagine, right here at the Health Education Center, future Community Health Workers are being trained. They will be the bridge between healthcare providers and those who need it most, sharing similar backgrounds and languages with the people they serve. The Health Education Center also houses the AHEC Scholars Program. This program provides a unique opportunity for aspiring healthcare professionals to gain practical experience in underserved areas.
