Founded in 1930, Real Canoe N.C. began as a swim club. It quickly evolved. Today, it encompasses multiple sports.

Initially focused on swimming, Real Canoe N.C. expanded its horizons. Diving, water polo, basketball, rugby, and synchronized swimming were added. Mountaineering, canoeing, rowing, and skiing also featured in its history. These activities reflect the diverse sporting interests embraced by the club over time.
Real Canoe’s water polo department stands out. It was established around the club’s foundation. The team is a leading professional force. It competes in FINA World Championships. Numerous players have represented their countries at the Olympics. Notable athletes include Mario José García and Balázs Szirányi Somogyi.
Members of Real Canoe Water Polo achieved significant milestones. They played for Spain. The team won fourth place in the 1984 Olympic Games. A silver medal followed in the 1992 Olympic Games. The ultimate triumph came with a gold medal, also in the 1992 Olympic Games. Real Canoe initiated Spain’s elite youth Water Polo Training program in 1982.
Real Canoe N.C.’s basketball department began in 1940. From 1957 to 1965, the men’s team competed in the top Spanish basketball league. Currently, they play in LEB Oro. The women’s team has also achieved considerable success. They were Liga Femenina champions three times. They now compete in Liga Femenina 2.
The rugby department was established in 1963. Real Canoe’s rugby teams have consistently competed. They have left their mark on Spanish elite rugby. They have won five leagues and ten Copa del Rey titles.
Real Canoe N.C. secured its own facilities. Baldomero Sol became president in 1961. His goal was to obtain proprietary facilities. A plot was acquired in the Estrella neighborhood. Construction began a year later. The sports center opened in 1969. It includes swimming pools, basketball and squash courts and gyms. There are also changing rooms and a cafeteria.
