Seeking solace? Chùa Hoà Khánh, established in 1867 by a devout group of Gia Định Buddhists, offers just that. This sacred space, located at 215 Phan Văn Trị Street in Bình Thạnh District, has been a beacon of hope for generations. Chùa Hoà Khánh isn’t just a place of worship. It’s a living testament to the enduring spirit of compassion. In the heart of bustling Ho Chi Minh City, Chùa Hoà Khánh stands as a quiet sanctuary. The temple’s history is etched into its very walls. Major renovations in 1982 and 1994, overseen by the venerable Thích Tấn Đạt, transformed Chùa Hoà Khánh into the majestic structure you see today. The main hall, dedicated to the Buddha, exudes an aura of serenity. Statues of various Buddhist deities are meticulously arranged, their presence adding to the sacred atmosphere. Chùa Hoà Khánh continues its legacy of compassion under the guidance of Thích Quảng Pháp. Every evening at 6 p.m., the temple distributes 70 vegetarian meals to those in need within Bình Thạnh District. This simple act of kindness, sustained for nearly two months, is a testament to the temple’s dedication to serving the community. The menu varies, offering a comforting array of cơm, bánh mì, bánh ướt, or bánh bao, often accompanied by fresh fruit and tea. Beyond the daily meal offerings, Chùa Hoà Khánh extends its generosity even further. On the 19th day of each lunar month, the temple provides between 150 and 200 gifts to the less fortunate, including members of the Disabled People’s Association, children’s hospitals, and patients at Ung Bướu Hospital. Chùa Hoà Khánh is more than just a temple. It’s a lifeline for many, a place where faith and compassion intertwine to uplift the community.
