Is there a better feeling than reaching the top of the world? Here at the Baloiço do Pilar, you’re about as close as you can get without climbing a mountain. This isn’t just a swing set, although I’m sure the kids would love it if it were. The Baloiço do Pilar is a lookout point. It gets its name, “swing,” from the way the land gently dips down before rising again to meet the horizon. You can find the Baloiço do Pilar nestled on the highest point in Paços de Ferreira, 500 meters above sea level. From here, on a clear day, you can see all the way to the Serra da Cabreira and maybe even catch a glimpse of the ocean. Even if the sea is hiding, the views are breathtaking. Don’t forget to take a picture. The chapel of Nossa Senhora do Pilar is nearby if you’d like to see more of the area.
