The building also houses specialized labs for the university’s cyber security program, including human cadaver anatomy labs, aquatics research labs, and vivarium research labs. There are departmental and faculty offices, general use and computer classrooms, and student services offices. These offices support experiential learning, career services, and civil engagement. The lecture classrooms are equipped with demountable partitions. This offers flexibility for various teaching and learning styles. The Science & Technology Building goes beyond functionality. The building boasts high-efficiency air-cooled chillers, variable air volume air handling units, and a lab track control system for the laboratories. Energy-efficient LED lighting illuminates the spaces, while low-flow fixtures further minimize environmental impact. The building’s design also anticipates future growth. It’s designed for future connection to central chilled and heating water systems. Even the lab exhaust stack heights and discharge velocities were optimized. Wind tunnel modeling helped achieve a projected 50% fan energy reduction. The Science & Technology Building is more than just bricks and mortar.
