Construction of APEC Haus was completed in under 12 months. The team consisted of 80% PNG Nationals. This rapid construction was achieved by managing accelerated pre-construction works. A 50-tonne Soilmec SF-65 CFA rotary rig was used for piling. It was procured and shipped from Brisbane, Australia.
The architecture of APEC Haus draws inspiration from the Hiri Moale Festival. This is reflected in its design and cultural elements. The building is designed to be easily repurposed after the APEC summit. It can accommodate a museum, an exhibition center, and a conference venue.
Prime Minister Peter O’Neill envisioned APEC Haus transforming into a world-class museum. Many artifacts, thousands of years old and held in museums elsewhere, would be brought back here.
