Goi Station is more than just a transit point. It is a junction where two railway operators meet. These are the East Japan Railway Company known as JR East and the Kominato Railway. You will find this station at Goi-Chūō-Nishi in Ichihara for JR East. The Kominato Railway’s address is 1-1-2 Goi-Chūō-Higashi also in Ichihara.
The station features four tracks. These tracks are divided between two island platforms. One platform serves the Uchibo Line. The other serves the Kominato Line.
If you are heading towards Chiba or Tokyo use platform one. Platform two will take you towards Kisarazu and Tateyama. Platforms three and four are for the Kominato Line. They go towards Kazusa-Ushiku Yōrōkeikoku and Kazusa-Nakano.
Goi Station’s history dates back to March 28 1912. This is when the JNR station first opened its doors. The Kominato Railway station joined later. It opened on March 7 1925.
In 2005 statistics showed the JR East station served over 20000 passengers daily. The Kominato Railway station served almost 2000 passengers each day.
Near the station you can find Ichihara City Hall Goi Branch. There is also Sunplaza Ichihara. Sports fans might like Ichihara Seaside Stadium. You can also find Chiba Prefectural Keiyō High School in the area. Tōkai University Bōyō High School is also nearby.
