Simonton Community Church

Why was an abandoned chapel deemed worthy of a second chance? This, my friends, is where the story of the Simonton Community Church begins! We’re standing before a testament to the enduring power of faith. Simonton Community Church, founded in 1968, wasn’t always this grand structure. It started with a handful of families, united by a shared desire for a place of worship in their community. They didn’t have a fancy building or a renowned pastor. What they did have was an abandoned chapel, a whole lot of heart, and a firm belief in the power of community. These determined souls rolled up their sleeves and got to work! They cleaned, painted, and even installed new roofing and carpets. This labor of love culminated in their first service on June 6, 1968. Interestingly, their dedication was so strong that the first few services weren’t even held here! They gathered in the Community Center next door while the finishing touches were being made to the chapel. Talk about commitment! Over the years, the Simonton Community Church has blossomed, much like the faith that built it. They expanded the sanctuary, built a dedicated Sunday School building, and even have a Family Life Center! Yet, through all these changes, one thing remained constant – the resolute spirit of the Simonton community and their dedication to their faith. This, my friends, is a testament not just to the church’s growth, but to the enduring power of faith and community spirit.
