The first soul laid to rest here was a child, their tiny grave marked in the year 1933. Decades passed, and Kilifi Cemetery remained unusually quiet, with very few joining the child in their eternal slumber. It wasn’t until the 1960s that the cemetery saw a resurgence in activity, slowly becoming a final resting place for more souls. Today, as you stand among the more recent markers, you’ll notice a distinct increase in burials from the year 2000 onwards.
