Amidst the bustling energy of Ho Chi Minh City, discover the serene sanctuary of Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tân Vinh. This unassuming church, nestled within the heart of the city, holds a captivating story waiting to be unveiled. Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tân Vinh began its journey in 1954. Father Nguyễn Đăng Khoa led a group of parishioners from Nhân Hòa to Bến Gỗ. This small island community became their new home, a place where they would cultivate not only their livelihoods but also their faith. The fledgling community at Bến Gỗ consisted of three islands: Long Bình, An Dưỡng, and Tân Vinh. Each played a part in the developing narrative of the area. Two years later, Long Bình and An Dưỡng relocated, leaving Tân Vinh under the continued guidance of Father Khoa. He and the community constructed a temporary church using simple materials. It was a testament to their devotion and a precursor to the enduring structure that would eventually grace this spot. In 1959, Father Antôn Nguyễn Tứ Đại assumed leadership. He oversaw the construction of a more permanent church, a symbol of the community’s growing strength. Years passed, and the congregation expanded. By 1996, with Father Longinô Nguyễn Thế Mậu at the helm, the need for a larger space became evident. The church that stood had begun to show its age. Thus began discussions of a new, grander structure, a vision that would solidify Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tân Vinh’s presence in the community. This dream came to fruition in the early 2000s. Under the guidance of Father Giuse Đỗ Văn Tú and later Father Micae Phạm Phi Hùng, the church we see today took shape. It became a beacon of faith, a testament to the resilience and devotion of the community that had nurtured it from its humble beginnings on the shores of Bến Gỗ. The Nhà thờ Giáo xứ Tân Vinh stands not just as a place of worship but as a living testament to the enduring power of faith and community.
