\u516b\u5c3e\u5e02\u7acb\u5c71\u672c\u5c0f\u5b66\u6821 was established on June 26 1873. At that time it was known as Kawachi Number 41 Elementary School. The school was located within the Yamamotoshinden Tomoekai. In 1875 the school’s name changed to Bongo Temple Elementary School. Then in 1879 it was renamed Bongo Temple Elementary School again. In 1880 it finally became known as Yamamoto Elementary School.
In April 1890 the school became Yata Ordinary Elementary School Yamamoto Branch School. It moved to Kojima 55. In December 1892 the school separated from Yata Ordinary Elementary School. It was renamed Nakakawachi Village Kojima Combined Ordinary Elementary School. The school moved to Kojima 140. In August 1933 the name changed to Nakakawachi County Yae Second Ordinary Elementary School.
September 22 1933 marked a significant event. A new school building was completed at Yamamoto 601. This date is celebrated as the school’s founding day. A typhoon in September 21 1934 caused heavy rain. The school building collapsed. In April 1941 the school was renamed Nakakawachi County Yae Eastern National School. This change followed the implementation of the National School Order.
In April 1948 with the implementation of the city system the school’s name changed again. It became Yao City Yamamoto Elementary School. In April 1956 part of the school district was separated. It became part of the newly established Yao City Kitayamamoto Elementary School. In April 1957 Minamiyamamoto Elementary School was separated.
A pool was installed in March 1961. In April 1969 part of the school district was separated. This became part of the newly established Yao City Nagaike Elementary School. In December 1969 the school was designated as a Dowa education research school. Research presentations were conducted. In March 1971 Yao City Higashiyamamoto Elementary School was separated. In April 1975 Yao City Nishiyamamoto Elementary School was separated.
The north school building a four story reinforced concrete structure was completed in March 1979. In March 1981 the gymnasium was completed. In April 1982 the school was commissioned as a research school for health education. This was by the Osaka Prefecture Board of Education. A 50th anniversary celebration was held in November 1983. In March 1987 the school building was renovated.
In November 1990 the school was recognized as an excellent school for school lunch. This award was presented by the Minister of Education. As part of the 60th anniversary celebration in October 1993 exchanges with Marist International School took place. In August 1995 the playground renovation was completed. In March 1996 the pool renovation was finished. Sprinklers were installed in March 1997.
In December 1999 the south school building roof sheet was fully renovated. An intercom system was installed at the main and north gates in July 2001. A new school building was completed in October 2011.
The new school building has five colored pillars. Blue represents the sea and sky. It symbolizes grandeur and abundance. Red represents the sun and evokes passion and will. Yellow represents the moon and stars. It stands for gentleness and dreams. Green represents forests and vegetation. It symbolizes life and birth. Orange represents warmth and human warmth. In 2013 a celebration marked the 80th anniversary of the school’s founding.
