Have you ever felt the weight of history surrounding you? The Governor’s Mansion stands here before you, a grand symbol of power and influence, not just for Georgia, but for the entire nation. It’s a reminder of the past, but also a testament to the present and future.

Standing proud on 18 acres of lush greenery, the Governor’s Mansion is a 30-room Greek Revival masterpiece. It was built in 1967, designed by Georgia architect A. Thomas Bradbury, and opened its doors on New Year’s Day of 1968. The mansion is a testament to the rich history of Georgia, with each room telling a story of its own.

Its architectural grandeur is undeniable, with imposing Doric columns surrounding the porches. Each column, a towering 24 feet high, is carved from California redwoods, hollowed out and treated to handle water drainage from the roof. The mansion’s setting is park-like, a peaceful haven amidst the bustling metropolis, complete with a swimming pool, tennis courts, a play area for children, and a greenhouse. The centerpiece of the entrance is a Georgia marble fountain, its cascading water adding a touch of serenity to the scene.

It’s not just an architectural beauty, but the Governor’s Mansion is also a place where countless historical occurrences unfolded. The mansion is open to the public for tours and annual events. The current Governor is the mansion’s resident, but countless others in the past have called this place home.

Can you imagine yourself living in such a grand house? Walking down the grand staircase, the echoes of history whispering in your ears? It’s a privilege to visit the Governor’s Mansion and to be transported to a time when grand homes weren’t just showcases of wealth but symbols of governance and leadership.
