The Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Community began its journey in 2013. Archbishop Jean of Dubna and the late Archbishop Gabriel bestowed a blessing upon Father Augustine. They tasked him with establishing this community. It’s a beacon of worship for Orthodox believers and curious souls alike. Initially, the community found a home in a crypt beneath Wellington Church on University Avenue. The Church of Scotland graciously provided this space. Father Augustine, with dedicated hands and generous donations, transformed the crypt into a chapel. The chapel is a testament to faith and community spirit. The Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Community’s services are primarily held at 72 Charlotte Street. But their original chapel location still resonates with their history. They extend a warm welcome to all, regardless of background. Every service is conducted in English. Children are embraced as part of the worship. The Archangel Gabriel Orthodox Community thrives on the goodwill of its members and supporters. Their mission is to share the message of Jesus Christ, the Good News. They offer a welcoming space for prayer, worship, and spiritual support.
