Imagine stepping back in time to 1906. That’s when the story of \u00c9glise Saint-Lambert began. This beautiful church stands proudly in the Heysel neighborhood of Laeken, Brussels. It is a testament to neo-Gothic architecture.

\u00c9glise Saint-Lambert is more than just a building. It is a place of worship for the local community. Architect Charles Demaeght designed this church. He also designed the Saint-Pierre church in Jette.

Construction started in 1906. It was completed and consecrated in 1907. Cardinal Mercier blessed \u00c9glise Saint-Lambert. The church has a classic Latin cross layout.

Note that the church has been temporarily closed in 2023. Stone falling in the choir area caused the closure. Safety is a priority.

The building features brick with white stone and hard stone elements. It is a perfectly symmetrical basilica type structure. It has a west facade beneath a square bell tower. The tower includes a portal.

Inside \u00c9glise Saint-Lambert, the naves are separated by columns. The ceilings have cross ribs and pointed arches. Light filters through the high windows.

Originally, the church had stained glass windows by J. Dobbelaere. They depicted scenes like the Nativity and the Holy Family. A mosaic panel shows Mary with Child and Saint John.

A neo-Gothic pulpit made of sculpted stone catches the eye. Harry Elstr\u00f6m a Danish artist created it around 1928. The church also features a baroque wooden confessional. It dates back to the 19th century.
