A small company held off the 1st Panzer Division for a significant portion of the first day. Another company near Chabrehez successfully resisted the 7th Panzer Division.

The Chasseurs Ardennais continued their fight. Even after the retreat across the Meuse River. They suffered heavy losses from aerial attacks. But they fought on. Eventually regrouping and fighting in the Battle of the Lys. Their resistance in Deinze and Vinkt was particularly tenacious. It sadly led to reprisals against civilians. The Vinkt massacre a tragic consequence. Despite the overall outcome the Chasseurs Ardennais maintained their cohesion. Their fighting spirit outlasting many other units.

After the war the traditions of the Chasseurs Ardennais were revived. They participated in numerous international missions. Including peacekeeping operations. And the Afghanistan War. Their legacy is one of courage. Determination and sacrifice.
