Founded by King Chulalongkorn in 1895 Taweethapisek School stands proudly. Its history is rich with stories. The school initially opened its doors with 162 students and just six teachers. King Rama V’s vision was to create a school that honored his grandfather King Rama II. He generously donated 2000000 baht. Royal members also contributed to build the school at Wat Arun Ratchawararam. The original building was four stories high. Its first director was Khun Uparakansilapaset. The name Taweethapisek itself is significant. Tawee means twice or double and pisek means coronation. This reflects the double celebration of the school’s founding and the King’s coronation.
As Taweethapisek School grew so did its student population. The original building at Wat Arun became too small. In 1951 some students were moved to a new location at Wat Nakklang. By 1960 a new building at Wat Nakklang was complete. All students in grades 7-12 were then moved there. Today Taweethapisek School boasts impressive facilities. These include a basketball court a table-tennis area and a 400-meter running track encircling the football field. The school’s campus is spacious and modern. It includes several buildings designed to support its academic and extra-curricular programs. These buildings house classrooms laboratories a library and administrative offices. There is also a gymnasium and a cafeteria. The school provides a safe and supportive environment.

Many other successful individuals graduated from Taweethapisek School. These graduates include high ranking military officers politicians poets and artists. The school symbol is a coin. This coin was distributed on King Rama V’s coronation day. It features coats of arms representing King Rama II King Rama V and other significant insignias.
