Established in 1978 the Freie Waldorfschule Hannover-Bothfeld stands before you. Its story began not here but near the Maschsee. Peter and Brigitte Lampasiak spearheaded the school’s creation. For four years students and teachers learned in the existing Waldorf school buildings. Then a new chapter started.
Driven by an enthusiastic parent community and the founders’ vision a new school was planned. It was built on the city’s northeastern edge. This wasn’t just any construction project. Students parents and teachers collaborated. They built eco-friendly wooden structures. These homes were topped with grassy roofs. The buildings were completed in 1982.
The school’s location on the green outskirts of Hannover-Bothfeld is noteworthy. This setting fosters a unique atmosphere. Its rural charm and family-like atmosphere are still its strengths. The large grounds approximately 42500 square meters provide ample space for play exploration and relaxation. In 2008 the school boasted 528 pupils.
The Freie Waldorfschule Hannover-Bothfeld emphasizes interdisciplinary and practical instruction. This includes significant projects in crafts and the arts. It also features unique aspects like gardening and animal husbandry. A strong focus is placed on theater pedagogy. The school offers a comprehensive curriculum from first grade through to the Abitur.
