Perhaps you’ve arrived at Gorskaya railway station eager to explore Saint Petersburg. Gorskaya is more than just a station. It is a place with a past.

Gorskaya is a railway station in Saint Petersburg. It sits between Lisiy Nos and Sestroretsk. The station first opened on November 26, 1894. This was part of the Primorskaya Line. The line connected Razdelnaya and Sestroretsk.

In 1952, big changes came to Gorskaya. The railway line was electrified. High platforms were built for the modern trains. From 1999 to 2001, Gorskaya was rebuilt again. This time it was to accommodate the Gorskaya road interchange.

Today Gorskaya still stands. It has one platform and one track. The former station building is now a shop. A historical photo from 1904 shows the station in its early days.

Saint Petersburg itself is a city of history. Peter the Great founded it in 1703. He wanted a “window to Europe”. The city is famous for its canals and bridges. That’s why people call it the “Venice of the North.”

The Hermitage Museum is a must-see in Saint Petersburg. It holds over three million works of art. The city boasts more than 200 palaces and mansions. During summer, the White Nights bring endless daylight.

Saint Petersburg was Russia’s capital for over two centuries. Its metro system is one of the deepest in the world. The city is also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
