In 1963, a seed was planted. The School of Finance and Accounting of the Central Banking was established, later evolving into the University of Finance and Accounting, and finally the Hanoi University of Finance and Accounting. This institution, along with the Finance Research Institute (founded in 1960) and the Finance Training Center, merged in 2001 to become what we know today as the Học viện Tài chính, the Academy of Finance. Right here, at 58 Lê Văn Hiến Street, in the Đức Thắng ward of Hanoi, stands this prestigious institution. The Academy of Finance is directly under the Ministry of Finance. It is subject to the state management of the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Science and Technology, and other relevant ministries. Học viện Tài chính plays a crucial role in Vietnam’s financial landscape. It trains personnel at the undergraduate and postgraduate levels. It also conducts scientific research. The Academy of Finance offers a wide range of training programs. These include undergraduate, in-service undergraduate, second-degree undergraduate, and continuous undergraduate programs. The Academy boasts an impressive alumni network of over 100,000 economic professionals, contributing significantly to Vietnam’s development. Additionally, nearly 500 individuals have received training and master’s degrees, supporting the development of Laos and Cambodia. Many graduates hold prominent positions in the Party, the State, ministries, and various localities. For its contributions, Học viện Tài chính has received numerous accolades. These include the Ho Chi Minh Order in 2013 and the First, Second, and Third-class Labor Orders. Notably, the Academy received the First-class Labor Order twice, once in 2018. It has also been honored with the First, Second, and Third-class Independence Orders and the First, Second, and Third-class Freedom Orders from Laos. Học viện Tài chính continues to be a beacon of financial education and research in Vietnam.
