Williamwood High School began its life in the 1930s as Eastwood Senior Secondary School. It was a much smaller school housed in a different building on Seres Road. The original building was quite old by the time the decision was made to replace it. A new school was needed.
The construction of the current Williamwood High School was a major undertaking. Funded under a private Public-Private Partnership scheme the project cost a staggering £29 million. The new school opened its doors in August 2006. It was a momentous occasion. The First Minister of Scotland Jack McConnell himself officially opened the building. It was a proud day for East Renfrewshire.
Williamwood High School is far more than just classrooms. It boasts over seventy classrooms. Each one is equipped with interactive whiteboards. It became the first school in Scotland to receive five excellent ratings from Her Majesty’s Inspectorate of Education.
