It emerged from a split within the Presbyterian Church in Korea (DokNoHoe). Two opposing groups clashed under the leadership of Kim Chang-Gil and Chung Dae-Shin. The DaeShin group grew but faced further divisions. Other groups such as Bang-Bo Shin and GaeHyukJeongTong along with the Presbyterian Church in Korea (BoSu) also branched off.
