Later, during the late Lê and early Nguyễn dynasties, Phú Đổng stood as an independent village, a beacon in the northern landscape. It wasn’t until 1961 that Xã Phú Đổng became part of Gia Lâm district, Hanoi.
The story of Thánh Gióng is inextricably linked to this place. Legend tells us that Gióng, the boy who became a giant, was born and raised here. He rode an iron horse, wielded an iron sword, and vanquished the Ân invaders who threatened the kingdom during the reign of King Hùng Vương VI.
