“Largest in the world,” they say. The world’s tallest rock idol of Lord Shani stands right here at Shri Shani Dev Mandir.
Shri Shani Dev Mandir is a significant pilgrimage site. It is especially known for its impressive statue and spiritual offerings. This temple is dedicated to Lord Shani. It attracts thousands of devotees each year. Saturdays are considered auspicious for Lord Shani.
Shani Dham Temple unveiled this large rock idol of Lord Shani on May 31, 2003. Anant Shree Vibhushit Jagat Guru Shankracharya Swami Madhavasharam Ji Maharaj inaugurated the idol. Before this unveiling, Shree Shani Dham Peethadeshwar Sant Shiromani Shani Charanuragi ‘Datti’ Madan Maharaj Rajasthani Ji performed enchanting mantras. He chanted One Hundred Crores and Thirty Two Lakhs Shani Mantras. The whole atmosphere and the environment of Shri Shani Dev Mandir gets purified through the vibration of mantras.
Shri Shani Dev Mandir is divided into two distinct sections. The eastern part features the colossal Shani idol. It also has the twelve Jyotirlingas. These represent various manifestations of Lord Shiva. In the western part, visitors find large statues of Shani Dev riding a buffalo and a vulture. There is also an idol of Hanuman. This section includes an oblation pool and idols of the nine planets Navagrahas.
Besides the Shani idol, the temple includes shrines for other deities. You can find Hanuman ji, Goddess Jagadamba, and Shiva Linga here. The Shri Shani Dev Mandir complex features a library and a research center. An inquiry office, a reception office, and a publication department also exist.
Special poojas on Shani Amavasya are performed here. Deepavali and Navratri are celebrated as well. The best time to visit Shri Shani Dev Mandir is on a Saturday before 7:00 AM.
There is no pandit or priest between the devotee and Lord Shani here. The doors of the temple open every day. On Saturdays, Shri Shani Dev Mandir is most rushed.
The architecture of Shri Shani Dev Mandir is simple. The temple is coated with red paint. Skilled artisans carve the walls. White marvel stone has been used on the floor. There is an idol of Lord Hanuman on the right side of Lord Shani’s idol.
On the eastern side, there is a very large building with the establishment of 12 Jyotirlingas. At the top of this building, the very large idol of Shani Dev’s metal is visible. On the west side, Lord Shani is sitting on the buzz and the vulture.
Shri Shani Dev Mandir also runs many social activities for needy people. The temple runs Goshala Cow shelter and Schools. It organizes scholarships for meritorious students.
The temple is managed by the Shree Shani Dham Trust. The trust is headed by the Shree Shani Dham Peethadeshwar Sant Shiromani Shani Charanuragi ‘Datti’ Madan Maharaj Rajasthani Ji. The trust is a non-profit NGO. The trust is involved in many social activities in different parts of India. The trust provides water in the interior rural area of Rajasthan. The trust also runs a school for needy students.
