This institution, the precursor to the Osaka Institute of Technology (OIT), was the brainchild of businessman Kyosaburo Honjo and architect Yasushi Kataoka. Their vision? In 1949, the school underwent a transformation, emerging as the Osaka Institute of Technology under Japan’s reformed educational system. From its humble beginnings, OIT has blossomed. It now boasts four faculties: Engineering, Information Science and Technology, Intellectual Property, and Robotics and Design. Did you know OIT’s Faculty of Intellectual Property is a pioneer in Japan? It remains the only faculty of its kind in the country. Located across three campuses – Omiya, Umeda, and Hirakata – OIT pulsates with activity. The Umeda campus, a striking 21-story tower in the city’s central business district, opened in 2017.
