“Generosity has a home,” they say. Right in front of us stands the Harwood Arena. It is more than just a sports venue. It embodies the spirit of giving that defines Kean University.
Lowell and Toby Harwood are the names behind this fantastic arena. They are the driving force behind numerous campus improvements at Kean. Their generosity extends beyond Harwood Arena. You may have already seen the majestic fountain that greets visitors. It is another gift from the Harwoods. There is also a fountain in the park near Downs Hall. All thanks to their kindness.
But it is the Harwood Arena that truly shines. It represents their commitment to Kean University’s athletic programs. This arena is a testament to their belief in the power of sports and education.
Back in 2003, Lowell Harwood and his wife, Toby, made another significant contribution. They donated money for a stained-glass window mural in the Kean Hall Conference Center. This colorful window depicts the evolution of education. It is the centerpiece of the renovated Kean Hall.
Lowell Harwood’s involvement with Kean University goes back a long time. He was appointed to the Kean University Board of Trustees in May 1995. He also served on the Foundation Board. Mr. Harwood’s dedication to public service is clear. He also served on the board of Christ Hospital in Jersey City.
