Established in 1978 Saint Andrew’s School stands proudly on Wilmington Island. It’s a testament to the vision of the Independent Presbyterian Church of Savannah. They began with a kindergarten in 1947. Gradually adding grades over the decades. The first graduating class in 1978. Ten students became Saint Andrew’s first alumni.

The school relocated to its current location in November 1978. A new campus arose featuring Gus H Bell Hall and the Compton Center. The gymnasium followed in 1979. The school’s first basketball game was a momentous occasion. Skinner Hall opened in 1986 a third building addition.

Growth continued. In 2002 Saint Andrew’s School acquired the Johnson Early Childhood Center on Betz Creek. By 2005 this became the Lower School campus. Today Saint Andrew’s School comprises three campuses. Lower School for Pre-K through 4th grade. Middle School for 5th through 8th grade. High School for 9th through 12th grade.

Leadership changed too. Mark Toth served as headmaster from 2011 to 2016. Kelley Waldron the initial head of the lower school then took the helm. She remains the headmaster today.

Saint Andrew’s School is more than just academics. It boasts a robust athletics program. This includes baseball basketball cheerleading and many other sports. The school also excels in the fine arts. It offers a wide range of courses. Students explore their talents. They receive iPads and MacBooks for educational purposes. This technological integration earned Saint Andrew’s School the title of Apple Distinguished School in January 2013. This prestigious recognition highlights the school’s commitment to innovative learning.

Saint Andrew’s School maintains strong affiliations. It partners with several organizations. This includes the Southern Association of Independent Schools. The school also connects with AdvancED formerly SACS. It’s affiliated with the National Association of Independent Schools and the Georgia Independent School Association. Its commitment to providing a well-rounded education. This has made Saint Andrew’s a highly sought-after school. This ensures a bright future for its students. A legacy of academic excellence and community engagement.
