St. Peter’s Church, or Hauptkirche St. Petri as it’s known in German, stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of this city. Another poignant artwork is the painting “Christmas 1813 in St. Peter’s.” It depicts a grim scene: Hamburg citizens locked inside the church by Napoleon’s troops for refusing to provide them with food.
