The Biblioteca Pública Municipal José Hierro opened its doors on March 11 2003. The widow of the writer José Hierro attended. The then-mayor José María Álvarez del Manzano also joined the opening. The library sits near the District Board sharing a spacious garden area.
Architects Ignacio Ábalos and Juan Herrero designed the José Hierro Library. They won a competition with their tower proposal. The design features halls with great heights.
