Geographically Phường Đông Hải 2 is unique. It borders Cát Hải district and Quảng Ninh province to the east. To the west it borders Đằng Hải ward. To the south are Nam Hải and Tràng Cát wards. To the north lies Đông Hải 1 ward.
As of 2022 the population was 12377. The population density is 233 people per square kilometer.
Administratively Phường Đông Hải 2 is divided. It contains six residential groups. These are Bình Kiều 1 Bình Kiều 2 Hạ Đoạn 1 Hạ Đoạn 2 Hạ Đoạn 3 and Hạ Đoạn 4.
Phường Đông Hải 2 is home to the Đình Vũ industrial zone. The Ninh Bình-Hải Phòng expressway also passes through it. This enhances its economic importance.
Interestingly a temple dedicated to King Ngô Quyền is located here. It is in the Hạ Đoạn residential area. This adds a historical touch to the modern ward of Phường Đông Hải 2.
