Founded in 1959 by the renowned writer Josefina Aldecoa Colegio Estilo was more than just classrooms and textbooks. It was a vision. A belief in a free modern pro-European education. Josefina served as principal for 52 years. Her daughter Susana Aldecoa took over in 2011. She had been the assistant principal for over 30 years. Susana carried the torch until the school’s closure in 2019.
Colegio Estilo’s approach was revolutionary. It was inspired by the ILE the Free Institution of Teaching. Art was central from the age of three. Each student received individual attention. Learning was hands-on. Children created their own workbooks. They painted sculpted and crafted with various materials. Classical music often filled the air.
