Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Th\u00e1i B\u00ecnh began in the 1950s. A group of 15 families from Th\u00e1i B\u00ecnh province sought a new life in S\u00e0i G\u00f2n. Led by Father Bat\u00f4l\u00f4m\u00ea\u00f4 Nguy\u1ec5n Quang \u00c2n they built a simple chapel of corrugated iron. This humble beginning marked the start of their new spiritual home.
By 1955 the community grew. Father Giuse Phan Quang T\u00fa helped allocate land for homes. The new parish officially formed on October 7 1955. It was named Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Th\u00e1i B\u00ecnh and dedicated to Our Lady of the Rosary.
The need for a larger church became apparent. In May 1955 the chapel expanded. By 1957 a new church was built. It had a roof and iron sheet walls. This new space allowed the Th\u00e1i B\u00ecnh community to flourish.
Over time Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Th\u00e1i B\u00ecnh underwent four renovations to accommodate its growing needs. The most recent renovation finished in 1997. A bell tower built in 1969 held a bell crafted in France a gift from a generous parishioner. A second bell also from France joined it ten years later. In 2004 a new bell tower was constructed. This one was 23 meters high and housed a third bell. Gi\u00e1o x\u1ee9 Th\u00e1i B\u00ecnh now has three bells that ring out.
