Let’s step back in time to the 1980s, when the old Queen of Heaven Church and School were a cornerstone for many families in the area. For my family, it was more than just a place to worship; it was a place where we found a sense of belonging and rootedness, where we learned the values and traditions of the Catholic faith. Queen of Heaven, run by the Immaculate Heart of Mary Sisters, was like a haven for families who desired a quality Catholic education for their children. The school was much more than a place of learning; it was a second home for us. My parents saw its dedicated teachers and staff as pillars of support and guidance. My sisters and I have fond memories of September to June at the school, filled with school fairs, Christmas plays, talent shows – with a personal highlight being our Cherry Hill Hopeless sketch – and school fundraisers. Queen of Heaven instilled in us a profound love for our faith, nurturing a habit of faithful prayer, hope, praise, thanksgiving, and charity within our hearts. Today, as we stand before the site where this old church and school once stood, our minds flood with memories. These memories are a testament to the enduring impact of the Queen of Heaven community on our lives. The spirit of this once-thriving parish continues to echo in our hearts, a reminder of faith, education, and community.
