SMK Taman Melati first opened its doors in 1994. Around 500 students enrolled then. There were only 10 teachers led by Datin Hajjah Khowilah bt Yusup.
In 2021, SMK Taman Melati had 855 students. The faculty consisted of 63 teachers. Twelve were men and 51 were women. The school stands as a Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan.
