Journey back to December 28, 2023. Yanshan Station, a vital part of Guangzhou Metro Line 7, opened its doors to the public. This marked a significant expansion, the completion of Phase 2 of Line 7, and established Yanshan Station as the northern terminus. Imagine the excitement as the first trains pulled into this brand-new station. Yanshan Station sits underground, beneath the Shuixi Stabling Yard in Huangpu District. Originally, during the planning stages of Line 7’s Phase 2, this station wasn’t even conceived. The need arose from the development of the structures above the Shuixi Stabling Yard. This necessity led to the extension of the line and the creation of what was initially called Shuixibei Station. The name “Yanshan Station” has a fascinating origin. The station stands on the former site of Yanshan Village. This connection to local history led to the official renaming of the station in February 2023, following the “Guangzhou Metro Station Naming Rules.” This ensured that a piece of the area’s past remained, woven into the fabric of its future. Yanshan Station boasts two side platforms on Level 2, serving Line 7. From here, passengers can travel south towards Meidi Dadao. Access to street level is facilitated by multiple exits labeled A through D, all located on Luoxinheng Street. Conveniently, the Yanshan (Xingyue Mountain) Bus Terminus is also nearby. Yanshan Station isn’t just a transportation hub. It is a testament to urban planning and a reflection of the rich history of the area.
