Haven’t you heard that a small group of Nigerian immigrants started something big here? This is Masjidul Mu’meneen. It began as the Nigerian Muslim Association of Greater Houston or NMAGH. That was over a quarter of a century ago.

These Nigerians came to the United States. They pursued college and graduate degrees. Many decided to stay in Houston. They wanted to build careers and raise families. The NMAGH started as a way to connect. It fostered socialization and cultural development. Religious fellowship was also important. Over time, the community evolved. It shifted from a social and cultural focus. It became a full Islamic community. Now it is known as Masjid-ul-Mumineen.

The second generation of Nigerian-Americans is now grown. Masjidul Mu’meneen addresses the needs of all age groups. They have developed customized programs. The masjid serves as a multipurpose community center. It hosts Arabic and Islamic school for kids and adults. It is a professional networking center. It is a rejuvenating center for grandparents. All groups and associations can meet here.

Masjidul Mu’meneen strives to be inclusive. It wants to nurture Muslims from all walks of life. It is a sanctuary. People seek a deeper connection here.
