Established around 1854 under the reign of Emperor Tu Duc Nha Tho Giao Xu Ben San stands proudly. It started as a small community. Priests from the north regularly visited. They guided the faithful. For a long time a French priest Father Tuyen served the parish. He dedicated himself to the community.

The Nha Tho Giao Xu Ben San we see today is not the original structure. In the 1980s Father Vinh Son Tran The Thuan spearheaded significant renovations. He was then the parish priest. The church underwent substantial changes. A new church replaced the temporary one. It was completed on August 18 1991.

In 2002 the parish expanded. Four spacious classrooms were added. This further supported the growing community. The expansion improved its ability to serve its members. Father Thuan later transferred. Father GB Nguyen Minh Hung took his place. Further renovations and improvements followed. The land was landscaped. The church was strengthened and beautified.

Father Dam Duc Trung became the parish priest in July 2013. He continues to serve. The Nha Tho Giao Xu Ben San now boasts around 2000 parishioners. They are spread across six districts. About 1500 more people live nearby. They also participate in parish life. The church grounds are home to a beautiful garden. It was established in 1959 by the Northern Sisters. The Cat Minh Phu Cuong Sanctuary is also on the premises. It was a gift from Bishop Tran Dinh Tu. He was a former bishop of the diocese. A community hall completes the grounds. The Nha Tho Giao Xu Ben San remains a vital hub for the community. It is a testament to its enduring faith and resilience. It is a beautiful place of worship. It reflects the dedication of countless individuals.
