“Where can I find a place that cherishes both life and learning?” someone once pondered while seeking the right school. Today, we stand before \u5c3c\u5d0e\u5e02\u7acb\u6210\u826f\u4e2d\u5b66\u6821. This public middle school in Amagasaki, Hyogo Prefecture has a unique story.
\u5c3c\u5d0e\u5e02\u7acb\u6210\u826f\u4e2d\u5b66\u6821 isn’t just a place of education. It is a hub of community engagement. The school’s history reflects a commitment to growth and adaptation.
In 2005, two schools merged to create \u5c3c\u5d0e\u5e02\u7acb\u6210\u826f\u4e2d\u5b66\u6821. These were Amagasaki City Seijo Junior High School and Amagasaki City Ikuei Junior High School. The newly formed school initially used the Seijo Junior High School campus.
A new school building was completed in 2007. It was built on the former site of Ikuei Junior High. This marked a new chapter for \u5c3c\u5d0e\u5e02\u7acb\u6210\u826f\u4e2d\u5b66\u6821.
\u5c3c\u5d0e\u5e02\u7ac\u6210\u826f\u4e2d\u5b66\u6821 also has a unique branch school. This is the Kinyo Branch School, an evening middle school. Currently, the branch is located within the Amagasaki City History Museum. It once operated from the Amagasaki City Board of Education Research Institute. It also spent time in the north school building of Amagasaki City Kinjo Elementary School.
Since 2012, \u5c3c\u5d0e\u5e02\u7acb\u6210\u826f\u4e2d\u5b66\u6821 is a UNESCO school. It emphasizes environmental education. Its theme is “Learning and nurturing the cycle of life.”
The school actively engages in various programs. They focus on LGBTQ issues, the importance of life, and dating violence. Students also learn about cyberbullying. Each grade level receives tailored lectures.
The school promotes respecting one’s own life and the lives of others. Students consider their futures and how to protect themselves and their families. They gain appropriate knowledge about relationships.

The school’s beautification committee maintains the rooftop garden. Students plant flowers and remove weeds. The Nicco Farm Club cultivates over ten types of seedlings. They grow vegetables and fruits.
The student council presented an SDG-related video at a cultural presentation. The video promoted cherishing resources. The Nicco Farm Club hosts “Quiz Nicco-don”. This activity helps students learn about the environment and food through quizzes.
