A whisper of history brushed against my ear. I stood before Dalt Vila a breathtaking citadel perched high above Ibiza town.

Dalt Vila the Upper Town boasts a legacy spanning over 2500 years. Originally called Ibosim it was founded by the Phoenicians. This ancient city flourished as a key Mediterranean trading hub dealing in salt silver and gold. Successive civilizations left their marks on Dalt Vila. The Romans the Moors and ultimately the Spanish all shaped its unique character.

The imposing Renaissance walls are a testament to Dalt Vila’s strategic importance. King Charles I and Philip II of Spain ordered their construction in the 16th century. These walls withstood sieges from French and Ottoman forces. They remain a symbol of resilience and protection.
