The Museu Municipal de Etnografia e História da Póvoa de Varzim is housed in the Solar dos Carneiros. This grand 17th-century building once belonged to the Viscount of Azevedo. The building itself is a classified Property of Public Interest since 1986.
António dos Santos Graça, a local ethnographer, founded the museum. He sought to preserve the traditions of the Povoan fishing community.
