Established in 1909 Osaka City’s Higashi-Naka Ward’s Yakemoto Elementary School stands before you. Its history is woven into the very fabric of this vibrant neighborhood. From its humble beginnings as Higashinari Ward Yakemoto Ordinary Elementary School the school evolved. It became Higashinari Ward Yakemoto Higher Elementary School in 1910. A higher grade was added. The school reverted to Osaka City Yakemoto Elementary School.
During World War II the school’s name changed again. In 1941 due to national policy it became Osaka City Yakemoto National Elementary School. Imagine the students then.
