Welcome to Pusar Ulak. This is a village in Bandar Seri Begawan. It is a vital part of Brunei-Muara District. Pusar Ulak operates as a village subdivision. It falls under Mukim Kianggeh. The postcode here is BA1411.

Once, people mainly lived on water in Kampong Ayer. But times changed. In the early 20th century, a significant shift began. People started moving to dry land. Pusar Ulak became one of the chosen areas.

Cholera and smallpox epidemics pushed people to reconsider their living situation. The government encouraged this move. Pengirans, or nobles, led the way. They built houses in Tumasek area. Ordinary Bruneians followed to Kianggeh and Sumbiling areas.

Pusar Ulak became a new home for some. Chinese businessmen from Kampung Pekan Lama also moved. They established shops on dry land. This marked the beginning of a new commercial era.

By 2016, Pusar Ulak had a population of 1274. The village continues to grow. It embraces modernity while holding onto its roots.

Several important institutions call Pusar Ulak home. There is the Pusar Ulak Primary School. Other schools nearby include St. Andrew’s School. St. George’s School and Sultan Omar Ali Saifuddien College are also close.

For leisure, residents visit the Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Silver Jubilee Park. It opened in 2004. Religious life thrives here. St. Andrew’s Church serves the Anglican community. The Church of Our Lady of Assumption also stands nearby. It was completed in 1969.

In 2013, a pedestrian bridge was opened on Jalan Pusar Ulak Radial Road. This aimed to improve safety. It also provided convenience for pedestrians. This project cost B$1078000. It particularly helps those near schools.
