Overlooking the valley, Ochsenberg reveals a secret. Ochsenberg isn’t just a peak. It’s a gateway to breathtaking views, a haven for hikers, and a winter wonderland for snowshoers. The Ochsenberg, standing at 1,483 meters, offers a surprisingly beautiful vista. The panorama encompasses the surrounding mountains, the Alpenvorland, and the Tennengebirge.

The journey to Ochsenberg begins near the Spielbergalm toll booth. Parking before the toll saves you a small fee. The trail begins along the paved road. It quickly turns into a forested path leading towards the Eibleckalm. The path is a steady climb, suitable even for children. The Eibleckalm offers a stunning vista in its own right. From there, Untersberg, Tennengebirge with Hochkönig, Schmittenstein, and Schlenken come into view. The Berchtesgadener Land, with Watzmann and Hochkalter, completes the panoramic scene.

The final ascent to Ochsenberg’s peak is short. Continue along the forest road, passing a small hut and crossing an alpine meadow. In spring, this meadow blooms with a profusion of wildflowers. Reaching the ridge reveals a spectacular view. The Ochsenberg summit offers an amazing panorama. In winter, snowshoeing to the summit is entirely feasible. From the Eibleckalm, extending your hike to the nearby Eibleck peak is also an option. Ochsenberg is somewhat of a hidden gem, with fewer crowds at the summit. This allows for a truly peaceful enjoyment of the stunning scenery. So, breathe in the fresh mountain air and soak in the beauty of Ochsenberg. It’s a hike you won’t soon forget.
