Let’s journey back in time. Jingyang District’s history is rich. It evolved from Deyang county. It also came from Shizhong District of Deyang City. In the Qin Dynasty, this area was under Shu Prefecture. Fast forward to the Western Han Dynasty. Emperor Gaodi divided Guanghan. This division created Ba and Shu counties. An ancient Mianzhu County existed in Jingyang District then. It was located in Huangxu town.
The name Deyang emerged during the Eastern Han Dynasty. Deyang county was divided. It became Zitong county. This county was located in Xiaoxiba Jiangyou County. Later, it moved to longfengchang in Suining. The name Deyang took root. It has remained unchanged since the Tang Dynasty.
Imagine the administrative changes over centuries. In 1659, Luojiang county merged into Deyang county. By 1983, Deyang City was established. In 1984, Deyang county was abolished. Shizhong District was established. Finally, in 1996, Shizhong District split. This split created Jingyang District and Luojiang county.
