He planned a copper mine. That didn’t happen. Instead he built a copper smithy. He named the settlement Conrads Höhe after his son. This is Konradshöhe.

Later the inn changed hands. It became the Feen-Grotte. This means Fairy Grotto. It got its name from its interior. It resembled a stalactite cave. The Feen-Grotte was a beloved local spot for generations. It was eventually demolished in 1979. Today only a ferry boat keeps its memory alive.

During the Cold War it lay in West Berlin. The Berlin Wall was built on the other side of the Havel. Konradshöhe found itself on the edge of freedom.
